Pup Who Escaped A Crippling Life Of Dog-Fighting Was Found On The Roof Of An Abandoned HouseAshley Maisano
On Christmas day, the Stray Rescue of St. Louis received an unexpected call from the fire department regarding a dog who was on a roof. Temperatures were at a dangerous low, and they needed to rescue this dog as soon as possible.
Rescuers showed up and began climbing the stairs of the abandoned house. After several flights of stairs, they were finally on the top floor. The house had clearly been abandoned for quite some time now, as it was completely disheveled and filthy.
When rescuers got to the top room, firefighters closed the upstairs window from the outside as soon as the dog came back inside. The dog tried escaping out the window as rescuers got closer, but he freaked out once he realized that the window was closed.
The poor dog was terrified, but eventually he accepted a treat from rescuers. As soon as they brought out the leash, he backed away and started barking at them. He didn’t realize yet that these people were there to help him.
Eventually, they got the leash around him and led him out of the house. Once he was in the car, rescuers noticed his ragged condition. He was covered in scars and open wounds, was skinny and dehydrated, and was wearing a collar with studs. Although they didn’t know for sure, they believed that this dog was once used for fighting.
Luckily, those horrible days are now over. They named him Chucho, and he is now safe and warm at Stray Rescue’s shelter! He will now get the love and care he needs, as well as a happy life without fighting.
