Woman Rescued A Fox From Becoming Fur Coat. When She Introduced Her To Her Dog, They Became Inseparable

Dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, hamsters…these are your typical pets; but it’s not every day that we see an adorable fox as a pet. Juniper, a medium-size red fox, was brought home by her human mom when she was just a little baby.

She’s a very happy fox and since she is domesticated, she acts more like a dog. Raising her took a lot of work and devotion. When she was growing up, her human took her everywhere with her. She loves people and even has a doggy sibling, Moose, who she grew a close bond with.

Moose accepted Juniper with open paws, and they quickly became the best of friends. Wherever one is, you can find the other. They love playing together, going on walks together, and even cuddling together. They are like the real life fox and the hound!

Their mom heard about another baby fox who was in need of some help. Fig was born on a fur farm, which is where foxes are bred to become pelts for things like coats, hats, and jacket trim.

But Fig was born with abnormalities. Due to a bacterial infection, he has lost his right foot, a few of his back toes, and his left eye.

At just six weeks old, he needed someone who would love him and know the proper way to care for a fox like him. Juniper’s mom knew she was the person for the job.

She adopted Fig and slowly introduced him to Juniper and Moose. Both of them loved Fig and vice versa! Juniper showed Fig the ropes and did a great job at comforting Fig. Now the three of them are best friends.

Fig will be getting a prosthetic foot soon too! Although he can get around just fine without his foot, he puts pressure on his wrist when he walks which can be stressful to the bone; the prosthetic will act as a cushion.

Although Juniper and Fig are beyond adorbale, it’s important to note that having a fox as a pet is not as easy as it seems. Their human said that they look calm and easy to handle, but this misinformation will inevitably lead to people taking on an animal they do not understand, expecting it to act one way and the animal being destroyed when it acts how it should.

“Foxes are not like dogs,” she said. “While they may display some characteristics similar to dogs, these animals have not been bred to want to please people. These animals are prone to biting and destructive behavior. They require an extensive amount of time and care to get them to the point where they are even sociable. Juniper takes up 90% of my day.”

While Juniper is very hyper and destroys things in the house, Fig has a completely different personality and is much more calm and lazy. But opposites do attract, and the two of them are getting along great.
